Case Study: Crotched Mountain Foundation

Objective:
Formulate a 10-year master plan grounded in responsible development.

Methodology:
Assemble a committee of industry experts to provide insight, ask questions, and challenge preconceived notions, to ultimately develop innovative approaches to enhance and incorporate the natural resources of Crotched Mountain into the facilities and lives of residents and staff.

MacMillin’s Role:
We began working with Crotched Mountain in 1969. Since then, we have completed over 20 projects of varying building types, including residences, offices, media centers, schools, and therapy rooms. Our successful history influenced president of Crotched Mountain Don Shumway’s decision to select MacMillin as the most qualified construction resource to help develop the master plan. Mr. Shumway also feels that MacMillin supports Crotched Mountain’s credibility when it needs to approach planning boards for approval.

Future:
Rooted in sustainable design, the multimillion-dollar master plan initiative incorporates expanded facilities, services, and housing. MacMillin’s proven experience with sustainable construction has helped the committee assess alternatives and make decisions as it aligns the plan with the organization's strategic needs. Crotched Mountain is ultimately creating a parallel between the development and nurturing of its natural resources and the development and nurturing of its residents and staff.
