Main Building
"The Main Building represents the heart of High Mowing school's campus, both through its function as a performance hall, dining hall, student commons and administration building as well as its historic (and nostalgic) significance for alumni. MacMillin was sensitive to the needs of the owner, and maintained the integrity of the original former barn structure amidst major renovations and high performance upgrades."

Common Sense:
The major structural renovation combined with new building systems prepared this historically significant building for an extended life. Natural daylighting and sophisticated ventilation techniques contribute to the health of the building and its occupants.

Description:
The Main Building consists of several generations of additions and varied uses. While the Architect developed the plans to tie the utility of the space together, MacMillin provided cost analysis of options and recommendations on constructability. High Mowing School wanted to incorporate as much energy efficiency as possible into the building envelope. MacMillin’s experience helped the team assess which building methods and systems would be effective in the space while meeting the owner’s expectations and budget.
