By using a former hospital, the addition and renovation of Seven Hills at Groton minimized their building footprint, and maximized existing resources.
2007
$12,200,000
The first phase of this project incorporated a 3-story addition to an operational pediatric hospital and residence. The addition consisted of a complete educational center with a library, classrooms and group activity center. The second and third floors hold 48 patient living quarters, nursing support rooms, and community gathering areas.
For phase II, the hospital staff and patients moved into the new addition as renovations began on the existing facility. The renovation provided additional patient rooms, physical therapy, a commercial grade kitchen, administration and a tie-in of the new boiler and electric building.
Climate control was of critical importance. The children are highly susceptible to infections and humidity, so temperature and overall air quality was carefully monitored and maintained at all times.
The facility has received national recognition as one of the top run hospitals in the country.
