Subcontractors

The information below outlines the processes and procedures on a MacMillin job.  Please talk to your respective project manager for specific project questions.

Procedure for Application for Payment

MacMillin considers timely progress payments a key ingredient of any successful project. MacMillin takes pride in our ability to establish a reliable payment schedule with our Owners in order to maintain positive and professional relationships with our subcontractors. The Application for Payment (.pdf) is part of MacMillin’s standard Subcontract Agreement. Typically, subcontractor requisitions are due by the 25th of the month.

Preconstruction Conferences

Every construction project is unique with its own challenges and objectives. To ensure quality control and effective project scheduling, MacMillin conducts preconstruction or preinstallation conferences with subcontractors prior to the commencement of key work activities. At these meetings, project requirements are reviewed with the design team and related subcontractors to avoid potential problems at a later date.

Workforce Safety and Decorum

Jobsite safety is paramount on all MacMillin projects. Our award winning safety program is led by our ‘in-house’ safety director. Our safety director ensures that all of our job sites meet OSHA requirements and educates our workforce on safety concerns. MacMillin’s superintendents conduct regular safety meetings throughout the construction process. Subcontractors are required to submit a copy of their company safety manual to MacMillin’s field office prior to performing work on site. All subcontractor employees must wear proper attire and protective safety gear.

Scheduling and Coordination Meetings

MacMillin involves subcontractors in the project scheduling effort. In order to establish the most effective master schedule, consideration must be given to key material and equipment lead times. Accurate subcontractor feedback is critical in this process. In support of the project scheduling and in order to maintain proper work sequence, it is imperative that site coordination meetings are held on a regular basis.

Submittals and RFI Procedures

MacMillin is committed to effective tracking of submittals and RFIs throughout the construction process. Subcontractors are required to provide their submittal schedule at the beginning of the project to ensure that key materials / equipment are available in accordance with the project schedule. Also, MacMillin tracks all subcontractors RFIs in order to provide timely design responses and resolution.

Inspections, Closeout, and Commissioning Requirements

As the project nears completion, MacMillin schedules related inspections and all ‘closeout’ activities with the design team and related subcontractors. It is imperative that subcontractors are committed to this process in order to ensure a successful project completion / commissioning phase. By paying attention to the details, MacMillin and our subcontractors are rewarded with the Owner satisfaction and the possibility of future projects.
